CRICKET

The once nomadic Emerald Hill Cricket Club can trace its history to the Southern Districts Churches Cricket League in 1903 as St Leonards Brighton Beach CC.

A merger in 1983 saw the club partner with Murrumbeena CC and then with Prahran in 1988.

In 1991 the club was officially renamed Emerald Hill Cricket Club; Emerald Hill being the original name for the suburb South Melbourne.

In the same year the clubs association with St Kilda Bowling Club had begun. While playing matches in the adjacent Albert Park the club was invited to use the facilities in what was then; the struggling St Kilda Bowls Club.

In 1993 Emerald Hill Cricket Club combined with the St Kilda Bowling Club and the St Kilda Petanque Club to form the St Kilda Sports Club.

From meagre beginnings the Emerald Hill Cricket Club has grown into a successful & powerful fixture within St Kilda; winning numerous premierships and continuously taking grade honours; our members join the club to play the game they love with an exceptional group of lads; they stay year on year because of the unique offering that is Emerald Hill.

Players describe the club as unlike any other;
